The Minnesota State Fair is here, and I’m looking forward to connecting with you. I’ll be at the Education Building in the House of Representatives booth from 12–2 PM on Thursday, August 21st, Saturday, August 23rd, and Saturday, August 30th. If you’re at the Fair, please stop by and say hello - I’d love to hear from you.
Thank you to everyone who took part in my most recent survey. Our district is full of different views, and your perspectives help guide the work I do in St. Paul. The surveys, town halls, and listening sessions help keep your priorities at the center of my work. Please continue to stay engaged. Your thoughts and ideas matter.
The results were clear. Nearly everyone felt last session left a lot to be desired and clearly thought the legislature needs to focus more on the “nuts and bolts” infrastructure of government services. Public safety, healthcare, and education came out on top as the most important issues.
Most respondents rated public schools as a high priority and want the legislature to focus on ways to help increase student performance. On the new Paid Family and Medical Leave program, over 70% said they were at least somewhat familiar with it, but 60% believe it has significant implementation challenges. The vast majority also expressed doubts about whether the state can implement and manage the program effectively.
Fraud and misuse of government funding were major concerns, and many of you also indicated that cutting taxes and right-sizing government should be top priorities. Mental health services, law and order, and infrastructure investments were also major concerns.
When asked about the biggest challenges facing Minnesota, high taxes, federal impacts, and government growth were the dominant themes, along with accountability, crime, political division, and leadership failures.
I also appreciated hearing your thoughts on how I can better serve you. As always, feel free to call or email me anytime. Many of you encouraged me to stay the course, which I am grateful for. Fiscal responsibility, accountability, and protecting taxpayer dollars came up often, along with a strong call to continue working on real solutions in a bipartisan, common-sense way. While some stressed conservative principles and others highlighted progressive goals, the common thread was a desire for practical, balanced leadership.
Many also encouraged continuing to be accessible and having open, oftentimes difficult, conversations about the issues we face today, underscoring the value of keeping this conversation going.
The last survey made it clear: public safety and healthcare affordability are the top concerns from respondents. I want to dig deeper into those issues with your input.

Your feedback will help me press for practical solutions that actually work for Minnesotans and their families.
